Open a Sukanya Samriddhi account of Rs 250 within the first year of birth of a girl child and get a maturity amount of more than Rs 65 lakh at the age of 21

 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a small deposit scheme for the girl child launched by the Government of India as part of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign. The scheme aims to promote the welfare of the girl child and ensure their education and marriage expenses.

Under this scheme, a parent or legal guardian can open an account in the name of a girl child aged 10 years or below. The account can be opened at any post office or authorized banks in India. The minimum amount of deposit in a financial year is Rs. 250 and the maximum is Rs. 1.5 lakh. The account can be opened with an initial deposit of Rs. 250. The account earns an annual interest rate, which is decided by the government and is subject to change from time to time.

The account also offers tax benefits under section 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and the interest earned on the account is tax-free. The scheme has a lock-in period of 15 years, and premature closure of the account is allowed only in exceptional circumstances such as the death of the account holder.

The scheme is an excellent way to secure the future of the girl child and ensure their education and marriage expenses.

  1. The account can be opened only in the name of a girl child who is a resident of India. The girl child should be aged 10 years or below at the time of opening the account.

  3. The account can be opened at any post office or authorized banks in India.

  4. The minimum deposit in a financial year is Rs. 250, and the maximum deposit is Rs. 1.5 lakh.

  5. The account can be opened with an initial deposit of Rs. 250.

  6. The account has a lock-in period of 15 years, and premature closure is allowed only in exceptional circumstances such as the death of the account holder.

  7. The account matures when the girl child reaches the age of 21 years, or the account is closed after completion of 21 years, whichever is earlier.

  8. The scheme offers tax benefits under section 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

  9. The scheme is available only for two girl children in a family.

  10. It is essential to note that the eligibility criteria for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana may change from time to time.
